If she is on the edge of wanting to camp and not because of Bears/Animals. Do not show her this.

I have to figure out how to post this video.

We're starting to get stoked! I didn't see a KOA reservation for Bryan and Bethanne, are they not going to make it this year?

I'm looking forward to seeing all the folks I met last year and hoping to meet yet more this year! Must visit heir Biergartens!! And some Irish Egg Rolls!! Of course, don't forget Das Tacos LOL!! What a great place Ouray is.

We're going to be arriving on Sunday the 17th and leaving on Saturday the 23rd. We'll be hitting the trails first thing monday morning, probably take Engineers pass down to animas forks then do some of the trails down there. Minnie and Maggie and perhaps california. Shoot me an email if anyone is going to be there for Monday (scottwj2004@hotmail.com).

Edit: Never mind, I see that Bryan and Bethanne (I hope that's right, I am SOOO bad with names) are going to be in the same site they had last year. Any word on stickers and T-Shirts???

I am showing up on Sunday with plans to wheel on Monday. Not sure where, I don't plan more than a day in advance when I get there..

Getting there early is great. You set some time to unwind before everyone else shows up.

My wife wants to spend some quality time in Ouray so I figure we'll head out early, 7'ish for Engineer's Pass, do Minnie and Maggie then head back to start drinking our way down and back up downtown Ouray LOL. You're more than welcome to join us on the trails and of course afterwards if you're into that kind of stuff

The Irish bar in town is top notch, 'found' it this summer. I plan on spending a little money there

I'm actually thinking of pulling a Ralph this year and doing more exploring rather than running ALL the major trails...again. Not that it's not a good time, and the trails are a little different every year, but there's tons of stuff to be explored up there.

That's where showing up a few days early comes in handy. You can explore around the first couple of days and then do the group things on the more major trails.

As always we will figure it out each day around the campfire....

I am all for bar hopping in Ouray. If we can't find a DD maybe a few of us can get a Taxi (or hire that FSJ Limo...)

The exploring with Ralph and Casey was some of the funnest parts for me.

Of course I want to try a little of the Ouray bar hopping as well since I didn't really spend any time in town last year.

Has anyone done Owl Creek Pass? We ran across that one last year, it's about 10 miles north of the KOA. We never really progressed very far. We're wondering if it's a worth while trip.

Never heard of it myself, but perhaps some of the old timers have.

I have not been on Owl Creek Pass but have looked into it. I hear most of that road is 2 track and goes just above 10k feet. Maybe Flatbackdragon has been there and will speak to it.

What do we need to do, to get our 1,400 foot Jeeps ready for the higher elevations? In 1979, I took my Indiana CJ-7 to Loveland, CO and it was a PIG in the mountains. And when I brought the J10 west, I definitely noticed the power loss @ 7,000 feet (was still very strong, though).

Here is a source of good info for planning Ouray Invasions:

In a nut shell... more timing, smaller jets. I add about 5-7 degrees of timing and go from a #70 to a #60 on my holley jets
