    Frustrated at Arm rests.

I have had it with factory arm rests in these wagons. I am going to make a pair out of fiberglass that can be bolted to the back of my new aluminum door panels from MIB. The factory ones with the "cracked plastic backs" will no longer do for me. Anyone else gone down this path? Pictures?
I have even considered carving up a nice piece of Oak with padded inserts.
I realize that cardboard panels might limit the creativity for most.
I am going to use nut certs so I can use a threaded fastener instead of sheet metal screws.

Once cracked they are toast, I was lucky to find some pristine ones at the recycling yard.

The other factor is to use the OEM screws, too long they bind w the door release mechanism to small you crack the plastic.

That is why I am making some. Finding pristine arm rests are few and far between. Then add the right color you want, uber lucky.
Solid non-breakable ones are in order now.

My arm rests got the flick covered the holes up with some lacquered timber.
                        Don't miss 'Em at all.

The back ones used to interfere with the kids seats so good riddance.

My right elbow rests out the window.

The backing plate is held in with four screws, it is what breaks. go to a junkyard and find some decent ones, and mount them to your armrests.

I posted some pictures as to the changeability in my picture thread.

Mine need repair as well. I have some that most of the plastic collar is still there where you insert the bolt but the plastic spacer posts are broken. I was thinking about getting some 3/4" or 1" wood dowel and cut to the length of the posts, drill the center for the bolt. ??? I think that is why these are called rigs
