If possible, I'd like to use the wire that goes into the cigarette lighter to power the antenna. I never use the lighter, and the housing is broke anyway. Am I going to start any fires by doing this?
Brad, you can use the lighter wire,but make sure you pull the 20 amp fuse out of the fuse block and replace with a max. of 3-5 amp fuse (unless the cb has its own fuse).Also this wire is hot all the time so you will have to remember to turn the cb off.You can also tap into the red power wire for the indash radio and it will switch with the key.Let me know If you get stumped.BTW, I am going to put a new ($6-7) 5x7 in the dash for my external speaker.I also have an SWR meter I will bring to the next WOT to set up antennas.
