    Wiring Issue

I picked up a brand new body harness for the Wagoneer.

With everything plugged in the marker lamps and tail lamps stay on. Headlights function normal.

A few things to note: the license plate light isn't plugged in, as well as the washer bottle. And the switch is from a 1980, the harness itself is a 79.

Any idea's before I go crazy with this?

Maybe the headlight switch is bad. Contacts stuck in position to have the tails and markers on. If you can, test it with a multimeter to find out if that's the case.

The Jeep is a 1980. The harness I picked up was for a 79.

Also it does this with the headlight switch unplugged

          Define body harness...

Why did you replace, vs. just repair what you had? What problem were you having prior to replacement.
Electrical is tough to diagnose via the net, but I'd start with tracing back and figuring out why it has power to lights, when it should not.
Sounds like a short, or a difference in harness w/ pinout.

Engine, body, basically all stock wiring was replaced when I did the frame off. The truck is LS swapped so a few of the engine harness wires like the wires were de pinned from the harness block.

I wanted a fresh start when i started the project because the harness that was on the truck before had quite a few issues.

And that's what I'm going to start doing, just curious if this specific thing has happened to anymore before I start going crazy.

I just helped a friend fix wiring on a '30 Ford coupe he is building. Basically when he hit his brakes the front turn signals came on with the brake lights. The problem turned out to be a faulty turn signal mechanism in the cheap Chinese Ebay tilt steering column.

For your problem I would start by unplugging the steering column turn signal connector and start chasing wires.

              Good luck.

maybe the column pinout changed in ?80 vs. ?79?
compare your ?80 column plug on old harness to replacement harness

Turns out the replacement brake switch was faulty.

Plugged it back into the stock one and everything worked great
