Fuel tank parts

78 wagon, new sending unit and new fuel pickup, what is the electrical terminal on the pickup for? My wiring goes to the sending unit not the pickup tubes

Nothing goes to fuel pickup. If there is a terminal it is likely due to fact it's aftermarket and not made 100% correct.
Some fuel parts are reworked for SJ applications and not OE design.
