Tailgate window chrome trim fitment/years question...

I'm replacing the glass in my 73 with that from a 78 Cherokee. The 73 glass has a chrome trim around in, the 78 does not. Will that affect the glass fitting in the channels in the tailgate and/or in the body? I'm about to order all new channels from BJ's and have posed the same question to Ryan. I can try to save the chrome from the 73 glass if I need to reinstall it on the 78. I prefer the look of the glass with the chrome trim around the top and side of it, but if it won't fit then it won't fit. And I also am assuming that I can remove the trim from the 73 glass without destroying it, otherwise it's a moot point. Seems like if the channels are made for the trim then there would be an awful lot of room for the window to rattle without it. But also if it's made for no-trim, that the window just plain wouldn't fit.

Any clues here? Did they ditch the chrome window trim at some specific point?

As always, thanks in advance for any help.
    Derek

I think that trim is stainless steel not chrome and yes they did stop using it. In fact 1973 might be the last year they did. Perhaps you could install the trim on the thiner glass with some material (rubber?) of a suitable thickness in the same manner the bottom channel is held.
