Welded up original rectangular hole and re-drilled for normal/common valve stem.

Took a router to the inside edge so the insert will seat, if you don't the halves will never bolt together and seal.

Just for fun..

33s
38 TSL
42 Pitbull Rocker

33s on new wheels

Got some new tires 39.5 x 16.5 x 16.5 Pittbull Rockers

Very nice combo, I've got some H1s that are waiting for me to get some DRW axle to bolt under mine. If I buy new i'm buying rockers as well. They get awesome reviews and I've seen them perform in person and they're an awesome tire.

If you attempt this project get your wheels sandblasted. Paint used by the military is tough to remove and smells terrible, it's worth the $15 per wheel to have them blasted.

I notice you have a plate on the front of your truck. Are you going to drive it on the street? I'm curious to see how well it rolls on the self welded centers. Your welds look great so if it works for you maybe when I get a bit more confident I might rethink going DRW and just recenter my H1s.

This truck is street driven and it rolls fine with the self welded centers. Just for the hell of it I measured the backspacing on my factory built 16x10 Steelies and they had a runout of .040" or worse. I got all of my centers < .020". Not worried about it.

I have the exact same set of wheels and centers sitting in storage waiting for my build to get funded.
I have been wondering how I was gonna get the centers, well....centered! Seems like a pretty nifty idea, I will remember that.

Looks good!

I did the same thing with 8 bolt wheels. IIRC you get 3.5" BS out of those. My home welded ones run true enough on the road as well. There is a nice lip in the wheel on 8-bolt to press it againt for trueness.

What exact router bit did you use on your PVC inners? I did something similar on one insert so far with a grinder.

What exact size pipe is it, i.e. 16" SDR 18....? The PVC I scrounged up seems to be a 1/16" too small to fit over the inner wheel on the 8-bolts. I have to persuade it on and off.

Mine do not come off easliy either, it is such a tight fit that if you do not drill some holes in the PVC no air will get into the tire area.
PVC was 16" water main, I thought it was too small too but all the research I did said I had the right stuff.

The bit was a 1/2" round over like this.

Another note. These things are heavy.

My Jeep weighed 4940 lbs with old tires and wheels.

Now it weighs 5300.

Additional 360 lbs or 90 lbs per corner.

So you put a round corner on it instead of the magic 13 degrees, or whatever that number is. (can't remeber without looking it up)

Holding air well? Without my inserts I may have 1lb leak over 1 month.

Yeah it is round, no magic 13 degress. Holding air great, found the key is getting everything clean with soapy water. I cleaned all mating surfaces with sponge and soaked the o-rings in the same bucket with warm soapy water.
