Should I put Holley Pro-Jection on my 89 Grand Wagoneer?

Already tired of the little motorcraft carb, and 980 bucks for a complete stand alone injection setup isnt a bad deal if it keeps the engine running at the right mixture, provides fast cold starts, gets better mileage, etc...

If you just want to bolt and go with minimal tuning fuss, that's probably the best and cheapest way to go.

i know a few guys that put a megasquirt EFI setup on some small engines, like a Custom Turbocharged EFI 8hp Briggs gokart motor, and some 5hp Kart engines.

The old 8hp Iron briggs was running aprroximately 6500 rpms at 12psi boost when the rod let go and flung across his shop, but man it was so cool...haha

My thing is, I know the 2150 is a good carb, but I dont trust the old feedback setup, if mine even works, not having a Lambda sensor installed, and it makes good power now that I have the Timing closer to right, I mean that 360 whips that thing around real smooth...but

Vapor lock, feedback crap, fuel starvation in turns, and stumbling going over RR tracks...EFI is really nice.

My cousin has a 1990 GMC sierra, 350 with the original 2V TBI setup, and the only problem he has had in 283K miles of ownership is a recent unexplainable rough idle, and it really isnt all that rough, he is just anal about things like that.

My GW has 172K on the Odometer...I dont think it is the original carb either, given the fact it has a wire in place for electric assist choke, but not that kind of choke.

the 2150 is not a feedback carb at all.

Oh crap...I figured the 2150 is waht came on the 89 GW, so I figured that's what it was..

There is a tag on the Left front carb top screw, and it has a few odd numbers, and an AMC emblem...

It also has that big feedback "thing" in the back of the carb, and no obvious mixture adjustments.

                huh....

So where are the low mixture needles? Last carb I really played with was a Q-jet in a 1981 Eldorado on a 350 olds engine, needles were right up front on the bottom of the carb at off angles, I gave a quick glance today and didnt see anything like that, but admittedly it is kinda grungy from the previously leaking thermostat housing...

choppy is usually lean. go richer and see what happens. you'll probably need a new powervalve too if you haven't changed it yet, modern gas kills them.
