1 QT Question and 1 MM Question

Hi Folks! Coming back to the experts. I did a search before this post, but I haven't seen an answer that helped clear it up for me (and it's likely me that's the issue )

QT Question:

I have a QT that I'm rebuilding. It already has the MM part time kit in it. I'm replacing the chain with a USA one from BJ's. My question is what type of ATF should I fill it back up with or does it matter?

MM/PT Question:

The QT I'm rebuilding with the MM part time kit in it is a replacement for the all stock one I have in there now. I know I have to install locking hubs in the front and I have a set of MM locking hubs which I'll install when the new TC goes in. To engage the 4x4, i have to turn on the switch in the glove and then lock the front hubs. I would obviously do this only when it's necessary (snow, mud, etc.). I read somewhere on here that the part time kit should only be used part time and only on slippery surfaces and that if I ran it on dry, it wouldn't last very long. My question it that dire when road is dry? I can see it being snowy in patches and dry in patches. Do I need to engage and disengage constantly depending on condition?

MM recommends GM Dexron type ATF(the red juice). Ran that in mine and it worked fine.
Once converted to part-time on dry pavement you need to be in 2WD. In 4WD mode, like with any part-time tcase a wheel needs to slip occasionally to relieve the bind/stress out of the system. On the vacuum shift QT I don't know if you can shift-on-the-fly between 2WD/4WD like with a mechanical shift part-time tcase? I never tried.

I use the same ATF I put in the T400.

MM recommends 1-3 mph for shifting in and out of 4WD. I imagine there could be trouble if you tried shifting on the fly. I would lock the hubs before shifting into 4WD. The part time kit is designed to prevent binding on dry surface in 4WD as the spacing between the teeth on the coupler are wider than the teeth.

MM instruction manual:
Ran when parked.
88 GW, 401/727/208, 5" lift, D44s/4.10s/locked up, 35s and a few Evil Twin mods, and a few TT's Fabworks mods,
