    Steering Wheel Size

    Hi All,

I'm looking to get a new fancy steering wheel for my Wag. Does anyone know what the diameter of the factory wheel is for an 89 GW? When I do a search, I get tons of hits for steering boxes and wheel cylinders. Google isn't helping either. I'd like one an inch or two smaller.

    Thanks

Looked through the factory service manual for you but couldn't find that dimension. I'm pretty sure the "sport" steering wheels are a bit smaller in diameter. Hopefully someone with more experience will answer.

Thanks so much for looking. The website of a steering wheel cover manufacturer shows the steering wheel to be between 14.5" and 15.5" in outside diameter and 3.25" and 3.5" in circumference. I'll rip the nappy cover off my wheel when I get home and try to get a reasonably accurate measurement. Anybody put an aftermarket steering wheel in their SJ? If so, what size did you get?

I'm leaning towards one of those walnut Grant wheels. Just need to get the "right" size.

I took me forever, but if anyone is interested, the OD of the factory steering wheel in a last gen GW is ~15.25". I want to get one of those sweet mahogany Grant wheels, but the cheapest I can find in the one I want is about $200.

I think I'd rather have a new intake manifold.
