    Front fender compatibility?

Before I go and buy a junk fender that doesn't match up, will any Cherokee/J-truck fender fit an '85 body? I need to replace a chewed up right-front fender and might have a lead or two nearby.

Do I need to look for any particular year range or would 63-whatever last year of J-truck/Cherokee (w/ the flare, of course)?

I don't know about the early ones but I'm pretty darn sure 73-end sidetrack flared fenders are the same

They all have the same shape and size, and will bolt on. Clearly there are narrow track and wide track fenders. The cutouts and holes are different for some years - look at the build for Phoebe II - the leading edge of the fenders had to be cut out to receive the chrome work peculiar to the early era. But the shapes are all the same.

Right, I'm obviously looking for a wide track if it comes from a Cherokee.

Um, build for Phoebe II? And by chrome work do you mean the bumper? We'll say mine's "aftermarket."

Not all Cherokee's are wide track.

Couldn't find the picture I was thinking of, but look at this one.

If you take the front side marker / turn signal bezel off, the leading edge of the fender has a big hole to fit the chrome side marker light. The fender is the same shape, but the leading edge has been cut out to fit this style of trim.

I don't know about all the wide track examples, but I don't think any of them have similar gaping holes. They are all the same shape and size - J-truck or Cherokee - and will bolt on. If you can look at the fender or get good pics before you buy, you'll be fine. This is a case where the parts book does not help you, because each little variation with an additional tiny hole here or one fewer hole there, gets its own part number.

Ah, makes sense. I'm guessing the one depicted would be a Kaiser-era Jeep? I'll keep my eyeballs peeled for one sans the chrome.

              And wide track.

Cheese grater grill is '70-73. First years of AMC.

That would be Phoebe 2 (jeepstresses ride) I believe its a later 70's model with a swapped in cheese grater that jeep took a turn for the worst (got rolled) but is now an amazing piece of work

No wide track rigs came with Cheese Grater grilles so no need to worry about that. So yes, any wide track fender from any year should bolt up.
