    1988 J-10 production?

    Hi all,
Long time AMC fan here, new to this forum. I just bought a 1988 J-10. As I understand it, 1988 production was very limited. How would I find out how many were made that year?
    Thanks,
    Dave Z

    I thought all 88's were J20's..

Reguardless there were very few J trucks made at all and what I hear they were basically left overs.

I have never seen any solid proof of production numbers for 88 or other years for that matter.

    Welcome to the madness..
    By the way....

1980 J20 Utility bed truck. Factory cab and chassis truck. Many new mods for it but it will look all stock.
1985 J10 nothing special just a nice clean stock truck.
1977 Honcho "Blue" 401/400/quad. Under going major upgrades.."This is Not Your Fathers Honcho", it may not even be a Honcho anymore when done.

No, all 88s were longbeds so that may lead one to believe they were J20s. There was an 88 J10 for sale here a while back.

As for a specific production number, there is not an exact number but "a couple of hundred" leftover 87s were produced as 88s after Chrysler took over.

For some reason the number 200 sticks in my mind for this.

I have a Jeep book and it mentioned this. I cant find it at the moment, but I believe it mentioned that an order was put through by AMC for the pickup for 88 and then re-ordered again by Chrysler in the fall or something like that. The jist of it was that they didnt think the 88s were leftover 87s, they think that they were actually produced as 88s.

Yup, same here. I know I've seen/read something somewhere, that indicated approximately 250 J trucks rolled off the line in early 88, before production got scrapped.
