new dual snorkle air cleaner: how to route new vacuum hoses?

I built me a new dual snorkle air cleaner.
Yesterday I mounted the 2 old and the 2 new vacuum diaphragms ...

But because the pins of the new vacuum diaphragms show in the "wrong" direction (see picture below) I like to ask you, how you would route the new vacuum hoses or if you have any other idea....

along like the yellow arrows show inn my picture below .... or...?
maybe you have a picture yourself

My question is was it worth the trouble? Did it honestly make a difference in performance.

I love how arguements end as soon as Ristow comments. Ristow is right...again.

Would route them exactly the way you showed. Get some small metal conduit/cable clamps, and some small (and short) sheet metal screws, and you can attach the lines to the air cleaner body so they don't flop around.

I've been planning on a dual snorkel for mine as well just for the old school cool factor but mine uses the old school cone type snorkel.

1971 401's were the only dual snorkel cleaners AMC ever made as far as I know and only the early ones at that. they were all the cone type snorkel.

Except for the Rebel Machine with the Drag Pac option that include the High Compression Twin Four Barrel air cleaner.. LOL!

Actually, I do have a dual snorkle air cleaner with the vacuum stuff that came out of AMTech (Jeep-Truck Engineering) on Plymouth Road. I will take a picture of it and post it up for fun.

Here's a photoshopped picture of what I have planned

I have the 2nd snorkel already but I'm planning on waiting until I do the EFI conversion before I do the actual mods.

                  Looks really nice!

The long story on this one is that I bought a basket case 1971 Hornet SC/360 from a guy who worked in the emissions lab at AMC. This air cleaner was included in the deal. No idea what they were up to and when they made the air cleaner.

they are a must have if you go 4 baeel and better exhaust.

FSJunkie thinks open element air cleaners are the best thing for making power. but i think they're horrible.

                          You mean hot air intakes?

I'm building a dual snorkel air cleaner to look factory for my 401.

Those air cleaners look so fancy and nice. Mine looks like trash... My 360 had an open 360* housing on it, and had the stock housing in a bin when I bought the Jeep. It looked like the opening end got ran over...

I bent that thing back best I could. I liked the idea of more air getting into the engine, but didn't like the hot air set up, so since mine was already a pos, I cut a hole in the other side and made my own end out of sheet metal I had laying around. Sealed it up and it seems to been a pretty good set up. Just looks bad.
