Door Adjustment

I've adjusted my doors after replacing door seals. I now need to do it again on 2 more Jeeps. Any recommendations for a proper procedure as opposed to me guessing?

Assuming the hinges are in good condition--
Remove door panel, loosen the bolts on the door slightly so that the door can move up and down slightly, close the door, check to see that the door is lined up with the body lines, climb inside and tighten the bolts.
Works every time for me.
You shouldn't have to mess with the hinges.
Someone else may have a different way to do this.

Great idea. I've loosened the hinges instead of working thru the door panel. It just so happens my panels are off. I'm gonna try your way. Also what about adjustments on the crows foot and strike?

You can't adjust the latch on the door. Sometimes that part will loosen on the shaft, and in that case you must replace the latch.
You should not have to adjust the part on the door post, as long as the door closes properly and fits the body lines.
Sometimes the door will not fit properly at the bottom rear, in which case you have to adjust using the adjustment built into the hinges. This will allow you to tilt the door (top to bottom) in the opening.

Unhappy What about the striker?

My drivers door will only get to the second catch if I slam the heck out of it. Can I move the striker plate out or in. I think bringing it out a smidge might help.

You can bring the striker plate out after loosening the three screws.

I have gotten my latch to cooperate by adjusting those 3 threads. I just went with a trial and error method. maybe someone has a more scientific approach. I did get the job done tho.

I didn't know about the bolts behind the door panel, they helped tremendously. I still have a problem though with the bottom of the passenger door barely scraping the trim plates on the rocker.

I tried adjusting the door all te way up but it wouldn't latch, no matter where the striker was. But for now I got it latch good and barely scrape, which is way better than when it would just sit on te rocker as soon as it was opened.

This may be a good question, does anyone know where to get new hinge bushings? Sorry if this is a hijack but I figured new bushings would help a lot of us with saggy doors.

Surprisingly.....

In the special hardware section of a lot of chain parts houses they have some bushings. Not sure about Jeep but I have found some for my 47' chevy.
