    1979 J10 Engine Wiring 360AMC

Can anyone send me pictures of their passenger side engine wiring. I'm working on a pretty butchered harness.

I'm assuming fusible linked yellow 10 with red splice from alternator goes to battery side of starter solenoid. Solid red 10 goes to post on alternator. But where does red 10 with white trace go? To battery?

I believe they came "butchered" from the factory.
I 'suddenly' had a NO start and started tracing wiring from battery to fuse block and found that there were joints/connections that were just DUCK-TAPED

I thought that there was NO WAY that it came from the factory that way, so I pulled the harness to find the problem only to get told that YES, THAT IS THE WAY THEY CAME

pm ME your phone # and I'll send you some pics of my factory service manual print outs. (printer/fax/scanner is messed up, so have to do over phone)

Duck (duct?) tape seems to be factory procedure for any splices kept inside the loom. Not sure why everyone thinks that's so terrible. I expect it's more weather resistant than plastic tape, and the tape seems to have stayed in place just fine over 20-30 years. The adhesive dries out, and the tape unravels easily when you pull the wires from the loom ... but it stays there until you pull the loom apart.

Make sure someone has not swapped out the correct solenoid for one they had on hand. Mine (the correct one) had five connections on it, a little ground one underneath is easy to miss!

If I could figure out how to put pics on here, I could send you a pic of mine!
