    Peso to the paint booth

It's been too long since we picked up peso down in Texas. We got the drivetrain upgraded with GM goodies and I've finally found time to strip it down for body work and paint.

The bed is off and will get media blasted Monday. The rest will go suday to the body man after we remove a few more items.

    Starting point:

After too much time to fight 8 bolts, finally the bed is off:

We have all new interior pieces, seals, and glass. Last part of this project will be relocating a new gas tank tithe rear and building a rear bumper so we can tow the yj with this truck.

what fuel tank you going to use? I have my J10 tore down for paint. The doors, dash, fenders and front valance are off and being painted. The bed is next then the cab. I really want a different fuel tank in the rear. Looking for ideas.

Thanks and your truck has the right stance.

Jim, I'm thinking a 32 gallon Tahoe tank. It will move to the rear behind the axle. It will suck to fill up but the range will be nice. This will allow me to run the factory pump in the tank. I'm going with after market gauges so I will swap out the gm sending unit on the pump mount. It's pretty easy if you need to keep the jeep one. I will source the straps, tank, and sending unit from a local gm salvage or napa. The tank supports will likely be regular 1-1/2"x3/16 stock material welded in. The main issue will be routing the fill lines. It would be better to move the fill port back too. We will see once I get the bed back from blasting.

I would love to see some photos of the fill port moved on a jtruck.

I am using aftermarket gauges as well so that would work for me too. I have a 4inch spring lift and 2 inch body lift so I can push the tank up a couple of inches so that will help as well.

Will keep in touch and will follow this. Thanks

You wouldn't think a couple of sanded fenders are exciting but it's progress. Maybe by spring it will be done!

Some more activity. My painter has been working in between cold and frigid days. Getting there. Will be picking up the bed from the media blaster this week and delivering. Starting to get excited. We (my wife) picked a copper color to match the Chevy Cruze. It will have satin black accents.

Interior pieces are all acquired. Dana 300 with a 4:1 and advanced adapters 32 spline out put is almost back together. I have an AGR rock ram for steering assistance. I will likely swap out the military 37's on 16.5 wheels for something like 37" Goodyear mtr's on 17's. We will see by spring and how some side projects pan out. Hopefully it will be complete for the annual big meats run at Disney OK.

After a year or so and getting the bed sand blasted. The cab is done with paint and the bed should be painted in the next week or so. The glass was installed yesterday so I get to bring it home to work on the interior finally.

If you can't make it better why waste your time. No use repeating the orignal mistakes. I'm to old to push it that's why.

My wife finally selected the 2012 chevy cruse autumn maple. She wanted a copper color but not copper gold, to copper brown, or copper this or that. Lucky my body guy took a while allowing her to pick. It changes tone depending on the light. In the sunlight it can be bright copper but in the shade it darkens to a burgundy toned copper.
