True! Not as much win as getting to build a house like some folks, but a win none the less.

Last night I removed the rest of the stuff bolted to to the floor so I could clean it all up, install carpet, and install the seats. This is what I have had for flooring for the last 3 years. It is a factory rubbery/vinyl sub-flooring stuff with some matting on the back. I thought maybe the previous owner got it in place of carpet but there was carpet chunks under the seat belt re-tractors (you can see the chunk of factory carpet under my seat in a picture below) which means there was carpet over this flooring and was torn out. I am SURE it was because it was saturated in oil, stunk, was faded, and probably full of rodent poop/pee.

Looking up from under my truck, my floors look solid; No bubbles, no peeling, no dents, notta. I decided to pull up this flooring so I could clean under it. I expected surface rust but it was a bit heavier than I expected with one spot of rust through. If my son's drivers license was not staring me down, I would order a new floor pan from BJs but for now I wire brushed it, coated it in rust nuetrilizer, and am going to put some automotive seam sealer over the rust holes. I am also going to make a metal disc to cover that factory hole to the left of the rust holes. The rust holes are right over the body channel. Yes I know this is not a permanent fix but one of the following will happen:
    1) My son will wreck this Jeep sometime in the next 2 years and it will be irrelevant
    2) I am going to do a chassis swap/paint job after I move to Idaho (about 2.5 years from now)
So this nuetrilizer should hold me over until then.

OK, Bragging time. I know I have rambled on and on about my seats but am SOOoooo stoked on them! I dropped off my passenger seat bottom parts at a local upholsterer and he redid all the vinyl on the bottom and added new piping ($80). Check out my passenger seat now!

This is the same seat/material as this:

I am SOOOOooooo pumped to get this all back together! Hopefully this weekend I will get the carpet in, Seats in, the steering column trim back on, the A/C vent in, and generally clean the inside. That will (hopefully) officially make my interior better than a parts rig. Except for the headliner.

What a transformation! That pattern and the material is really cool. I can't believe the wicking action that took place. Pretty weird looking.

            seat looks great

good price on the upholstery work too.

I think that neutralizer will hold you for a while.

going to look good with new carpet and refurbished seats.

your son will have one of the coolest vehicles at school.

We bought a house in Boise last summer (summer of 2018). It's about 15 minutes west of downtown, 15 minutes south of Meridian. I want to keep my federal gov pension so I am trying to find federal work up there. There isn't much there for me... If I do not find anything by April of 2020 we will just go after my son graduates high school (summer of 2022).

              Agreed! Thanks, Dave!
              ***********************************
After the nuetrilizer had cured for 24 hours, I used some urethane body sealer to seal up the few rust holes. I also found a body plug in my pile-o-parts so I cleaned up up, stuck it in the hole, and coated the edges with seam sealer and gave it 24 hours to cure. Next, I dug into my stash of spray cans and found the one that had been sitting in there the longest. I didn't really care what color because it was going under carpet. It just happened to be obnoxious yellow. Sprayed that on, gave it 24 hours to cure. I also came across half a can of left over harbor freight undercoating so I sprayed that over the paint. Here is what it looked like before I covered it up:

The passenger side. Previous owner laid some sort of fibrous goop all over the floor. It seems well sealed for now, rock hard, and covered the whole area so I cleaned it and covered it up. Here is what it looked like:

On veterans day, I wrenched for a good 8 hours. Got the $25 Craigslist carpet in! I am absolutely STOKED on it! Fit perfect! I cleaned everything before I put it back in and it came out SOOOoooo nice. Check this out!

If you look under the back seat you can see the color difference between the factory carpet and the Craigslist carpet. I like the darker factory carpet but this will work for now.

I forgot to install the transfer case shift lever and I could not install the trim piece on the passenger side just inside the door because the fiberglass goop covered the holes. If I had another hour to wrench, I would have finished it but it was time to come in. I LOVE MY INTERIOR!!!! Next up, Gotta get that headliner out of there....

                Rang-

Last night I read your build from page one to the end. You have transformed that jeep. This is a great read. Thanks! Many of the builds are just such a wealth of info on both sites. With the 81 W/T I have yet to pick up I will refer to your build for tips!

What is the upper part of your console out of. It looks way more functional vs the original armrest.

best thing, it is factory original.

I like the matching door panels too.

great job rang, I know you really like it,...we like it too.

A lot more "How-not-ta's" in here than there are "How-ta's". I really wanted that 81! you got a steal on it! So jealous!!!

Yep! Easy swap from a Buick Roadmaster. Take your time looking for one. Mine is a little hashed internally but "Someday" I will have it recovered in a better matching leather and will fix all the internal cracks. It is MUCH more comfy, brings cup holders, and a storage box.

Thank's Dave! I can't imagine an automaker making an interior this obnoxious these days. I hope to get the doors rebuilt (including super cleaning and wrapping my door panel vinyls over my men-in-black sourced ABS panels) before Christmas. I also have new scrapers, bushings, fuzzies, gaskets, etc. For the doors. Gonna order some better mirrors, too.
