    76 Wagoneer

    Hello:
I've learned an immense amount of great info from this site.
Decided its important to give back a bit. This is my first build on any vehicle.
This rig sat in a field for 12yrs before I stumbled upon it. At the time I didn't know
anything about FSJ. Just through it looks cool and I always wanted to rebuild an older 4x4. So I got it towed home. The idea was to change the oil, put some new tires, load the family in and enjoy..... Well not quite... Engine running rough.
Lack of compression in one of the cylinders caused from broken ring. Due to it being very old and sitting I got a shop to do a full rebuild on the 360.

I also rebuild the TH400 and QT (Chain, cones) from BJ Offroad. These I did myself. Fingers crossed.
Picked up a Miller 135 and am currently replacing rusted sheet metal.
The frame is solid and Ive wire wheeled, rust encapsulated most of it.

The Good: Well the drive train is done! Also complete jeep minus whats gone to rust! Trim, inside panels, dash all in good shape.
The Bad: Lots of panels to replace, body work and paint.

I'm really enjoying the process. Love welding! Lots of work but worth it.. I hope!
The goal is to have a safe, respectable Wagoneer for my family and I to enjoy.
I will have lots of questions and will need some help. This is a great site for a new guy like me.

    UNSOLICITED ADVICE WELCOMED!

Thanks! Sorry for the lack of updates. Little ones back in school=virtual garage time. I'm not sure I know what I'm doing but certainly have learned soooo much. I'm also so pumped to be driving around in my Jeep! Thanks everbody for all the help!

It was so exciting firing it up for the first time. Once I got the plug wires I needed (who knew I needed special wires for HEI) I broke the new engine in with 20mins at around best guess 2000rpm.

Drained the oil, Took it out for a 50km burn varying the rpm, drained the oil.
The oil was very black, which I read could be from break in oil?

Presently I'm driving it almost everyday maybe another 300km and I will change the oil again. After that regular oil changes.

Seems to be running great. Fun messing around with the timing. QT took a bit to figure out but it seems to be working. Had the front drive shaft rebuilt.
It had a major twist in it, causing lots of vibrations. The bad news is I'm leaking transmission fluid between the Trans/QT. If I pull that paper gasket away it oozes out. Also looks like a leak at the TH400 access hatch just below converter. More to come.

Fast forward 1000 man hours. So my phone got crushed during the paint process lost all pics. I started to sand complete vehicle in the fall.
Followed with epoxy primer, high build primer, base coat, clear coat.
Of course so much sanding, filler, primers.. Wow it was a lot of work!
Once I realized what it would take to get near perfection I soon realized that I
