I think wiley is talking about me. And I'm not being malicious, I'm giving genuine advice. If whomever you are getting information from told you what they did, you need to seek info elsewhere. The guys here know what they're talking about.

Temporarily locking this down until everyone cools off. IF I SEE ANY OF THIS SPILL INTO AND POLLUTE ANY OTHER THREADS ON IFSJA, everyone involved will be getting a timeout.

Okay, let's try this again.

And by the way, when I said "crusty old veterans," I jokingly meant IFSJA JEEP veterans, not literal guys who served, like my dad. Sorry if that offended anyone! It would make a really cool title though.

Hopefully we can all move forward.

Some people's kid's, I tell ya. Love it when people look for advice, then tell everyone they are not correct. And your first AMC no less. I really appreciate everyone on here, and the information.

I have seen many forum discussions On other forums get nit picky, but usually not here. If you ask for advice on your first tinkering of a new vehicle, take it and use it. Everyone around here responds realitively genuine to new members who listen, report back, and go from there. That is the beauty of this forum.

I almost told this guy off just because of the way he was talking so rude to others because nobody else would lol. Had to bite my tongue.

I was really impressed how much restraint some of you guys have, and kept trying to help him out even though he was being a total unnapreciating knob.

I just installed a new 1406 and cleaned up a crapload of vacuum leaks, bad hoses, and idiot rigs. I think the PO must have been a 16 year old by the looks of his work. lol

I put a new PCV and hoses, new fuel hose from the pump to the carb with inline filter ... and new cap, rotor and wires are going on today. The plugs look fairly new and burning nice. Some were a bit loose. Wires pulled apart when removing them ... dry rotted from desert heat.

Desert heat kept the rust monster away from this one.

Hey, I represent that remark, I was 16 once!! (I think)

It's hard to remember that far back, yeah I was....I'm sure I remember standing on a corner once in Winslow Arizona and this girl my lord in a FSJ slowed down to take a look at me......
