Greetings from Oakland, CA

Hey there - Al here.

I just bought a 67 Jeep Gladiator with the AMC 327. It's only got 62k miles on it, and it's really clean: original paint, uncut dash and door cards, unmolested body which appears to have never been cut or crashed.

I rode my motorcycle to Tuscon, AZ bought the truck, and loaded it up for the trip home.

That's the short version excluding all the service, repair and overheating along the way.

I'll be working on the short-term needs, and the long-term wants.

The main one is weather stripping... the desert rotted everything, and if I want to keep it generally rust free, I'm going to have to do something pronto before we hit the rainy season here in California.

Welcome to the asylum, from across the bay.

Is that a KLR?

The longest I drove to pick up a wagoneer, was to lake Tahoe ... yes the bike, at that time a GS1100 fitted in the cargo area, with the tailgate down.

Quick update:

Thanks for all the positive comments on the truck. (I baked it myself! j/k)

The bike in the back is a 15-year old VStrom 1000. It's a big overweight but generally reliable. Kind of like it's owner.

Plans for the cosmetics are to buff it out, then clear coat it. As the saying goes... it's only original once.

Mechanically, that got a little more complicated. I just did a compression test, and one hole has a big problem, so I have to dive into it to see what's wrong.

I was kind of hoping to just tune it up and drive it for a while, not need to dump additional thousands into it right away...

stripped spark plug thread, there are good products better than helicoil... such as keensert. The old XR350 head is being held with 2 of these!

Fried valve or collapsed lifter?

Good luck

Yep! May not be 1000's or even 1000. I bet its a burnt valve. If it's a burnt valve, you're at a few $100 and a weekend of work.
