    New Shocks

My '79 J10, 360, T18, D20, needs new shocks. My choices are: ProComp ES9000, Superlift Superide or Skyjacker Nitro. Anybody using these and have recomendations?

depends on your plans. On or offroad?
Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental.

ES9000's were pretty stiff IMO. No experience with the others.

In my opinion all of those "white" shocks are pretty much the same. Get the cheapest ones because none are going to ride great.

They are all built by Monroe with slightly different valving.

I just bought Skyjacker Hydro shocks. They're a little cheaper than the Nitros. I bought them because they had shocks closest to OEM measurements and they're cheap. I have a feeling my axle/suspension setup will change at some point, but I need shocks now. Haven't driven on them yet though...

Spend a little extra money and go to a reputible off road shop and get a set of Bilstiens. I saved up quite a while, bu it might be one of the best upgrades I have done for the Jeep. From what I understand, the Ranchos, Pro-comp, Sky Jacker are all from the same company. You can get Bilstiens that are valved better for a heavier Jeep like ours. Plus you can have them meassure for the proper size and even customize how much up-travel and down-travel you want. If your going to off road your Jeep, then do it right the first time like I didn't. Just my .02 cents.

Yup. Ridle like rock, but if you need a shock to control bounce on the bumps, ther're excellent. Corner really nice as well, but they are very stiff and your kidneys will feel it.

I have an almost new set of 4 Rancho RS5000's. P/N #RS5113. Find out if they fit yours.

Like Austin said same stuff with different name. I got rid of the Ranchos for the pro comps and no different, Sometimes I feel like I'm driving an outhouse after two bowls of beans. All my rides are getting Bilstiens from now on.
