    Clutch noises?

My 74' Cherokee is making a noise that ain't right, Help me diagnose?

If your in neutral and you hold the clutch in it's fine, when you let the clutch out it growls.

Seems like if the throw-out bearing was bad it would be quiet when released but growl when engaged with the pressure plate.....right? Or do I have it backwards?

I assume it's either the throw-out bearing or bearing on the input shaft which I hope it isn't.

I would appreciate any thoughts from experts or even someone who stayed at a Holiday Inn express last night.

you have some bad bearings in the trans, you will need to pull it apart and find the cause. I don't think it will be a throw out bearing but could be, it would make noise and vibration when loaded.

That's what I was thinking too but wanted a second opinion.

      Thanks Wiley.
