33x12.5" Spare. Yes ? or No ??

Can I fit a33x12.5" in the spare undercarriage area? If not, how big can I go? Can I get a 33" but skinny tire under there? ( A true spare ).

If it does fit, will it hang down a LOT ? Pictures would be great!

Anybody ever rig up a truck tire winch into their SJ ?

Thank You !

I had a 32x11.5x15 spare tucked up under a GW for a while. I modified the tire strap with a bracket on the end so it could be secured. A 33" tire may be too tall but some 33s are actually around 32". Good luck.

Thanks!

I guess I will have to see.

Also thinking of putting a tire winch from a truck in too .. IF it will take the load on the floor - with an added reinforcement. It well may not.

Cant look up there yet on mine as there is a rear tank mounted.. for now. that is coming out with the new engine project.

I had a worn 33x12.5" stuffed back under there for a time on my 88.
It was TIGHT, hung LOW. No way a new one would have fit w/o airing it down significantly.
99% they were Goodyear MTR's.

As Flint said different brands are different sizes so you'll have to see.

Don't know about carrier difference between Wag/Chero/truck but a new med lug tread 33x9.5x15 would not fit in the carrier of my 72-J4500. Never tried raising the carrier into final position cause the wheel wouldn't lay flat but even if it did I suspect your 12.5' wide tire may be some grief.
