AC compressor

The Sanden compressor in my 82 Cherokee is screaming and I want to replace both the clutch and compressor. I intend to upgrade to r134 and replace a bad hose and dryer. I intend to do the installation and bring it to a shop to do the recharge. Would it be ok to drive without a charge in the new compressor? I’ve never really messed with AC systems.

I think your post got lopped off.

I went through the process of replacing the entire AC system this year. Learned a few things the hard way. Hopefully I can help.

Yes, you can drive it with no refrigerant in it. Just turn the a/c off.

Yep, just to be extra safe, unplug the low pressure switch. On mine, it's in the engine bay-passenger side.
