Erratic oil pressure and fuel quantity gauges

I pulled the instrument cluster partially out of the dash when I had the truck apart for a bare metal repaint ( Build Threads section). After putting the cluster back in, I've noted the oil pressure and fuel gauges reading low and wandering up and down. (I think engine temperature is working OK). Anyone know of a common problem and a probable place to look...a ground issue, perhaps? Is there a voltage stabilizer in the system? The truck is an '81. Thanks

Odd that those two are acting up.

Usually it's the temp and fuel level since they share a regulator in the fuel gauge. Or maybe it's in the temp gauge. It's one way in the Wag's and the opposite in the CJ's.

Does sound like a ground issue to me.
