1963 J200 from California to Germany

Hi Guys, here the first Pictures of my Build, just started to take the Old Lady apart.

[IMG][/IMG]

Still the plate from 1963

Stripping out the Dash

The Windscreen hat a stone ship and it crack taking it out, does anyone know if the Windscreen from a Wagoneer would fit?

Forgot to mention, the J200 got a 302 Ford V8 in it, good sound

It looks like you have a nice foundation to start with. I really like the small rear view windows of the early models. Keep us posted and lots of pics.

It's a really good foundation, not much rust and everything came apart quite nice!

Already thinking about the color options for the new paint job, at the moment I am thinking of brown metallic paint with cream colored wheels

Or

The Orvis Moos green

What do you guys think of the colours?

I'd stay with the original color. Moss green as seen on that ZJ (ZG?) is a good choice as well.

What tires are on the truck?

High quality junk here: intro thread and slow build thread

Did you know? Willys is just Willis spelled differently, but pronounced the same. Neither Willy nor his apostrophe are involved.

I like the original color too! Looks like a teal ( blue/green) color to me.
Second choice? Brown maybe.

I send a gigantic pile of parts for sandblasting and powder coating this week.

Changed my mind about the color, i wanted to go with something that fits the era better so its going to be a light greenisch color

The Dash, rims and bumper are going to be RAL1015

I think that is going to be a nice color combination, Thanks for your ideas and input on the color

Good choice on color. It is similar to original and goes with the era of truck better.

Great start. I remember that truck being for sale.

Or maybe not. I was thinking it was this one:

Oh, I miss my 97 Orvis! I think that would be a nice color if you want to go away from the original teal (not my favorite). Since you are going all the way, you might look at the other colors from that year and choose one. Maybe add a little metallic to one to give it a little "pop"..
Choosing paint is really tough.

I really like the creme color, very nice. I'd go with a solid vs metallic color with that creme. Just personal opinion.

i used to own a ZJ Orvis too, really nice Jeep it was a 1995 i picked up in Vermont for 350 dollar as the Son of the owner drove it in to a ditch, hat to pull the front straight again and replace the boned, fender and the bumper but it was still one of my favorite Trucks

SouthZJ,

I used to own this truck! I bought it about 4 years ago and rescued it from a field. I had high hopes but like others had to many projects and decided to let her go to very dear friends of mine. They went through the ol girl and got her road worthy then.... They told me it was for sale and some guy was going to take her to Germany. My jaw about dropped when I saw her. I'm super happy your taking good care of her. I must confess that I've missed not restoring her so much I bought another one to replace her.
IMO I liked that color and my new one is avocado mint which I will keep. Looking forward to watching your progress.

Cheers!
Jodofab
