Got to stretch the old Jeep's legs

My Wag is a daily driver, but I went up to DC for a few days and figured I'd take that one. It was a nice drive and other than only getting 12mpg, I had no issues out of my trusty Wag. I did however decide that I need to get some stuff worked out on it.

#1: The Pioneer radio and speakers from '79 really needs to go.

#2: It's time to replace those worn old springs and bushings.

#3: I think it's time to look for a "new" bench to replace the original.

At least I know what I'll be working on in the coming year.

I find a full throttle burst is needed ever few weeks for proper running. Makes sure the trans kickdown and power valve are still operational.

Driving at least once a week is also neccesary on mine or else air bubbles get into the tranny and it slips a little on takeoff for a few miles.

It's old, I cut it some slack.

I love how arguements end as soon as Ristow comments. Ristow is right...again.

Nothing like a little road trip to let you see what your rig needs.

Aha!! I was going to ask about that!
But I've started driving mine much more frequently in the past few weeks ...and that little slip between 1st and 2nd has completely disappeared!

          Brilliant.

I drive mine five days a week, but it's a 14 mile round trip commute all at 40mph or less. The little bit of interstate it sees is mostly short trip time too. Heck I put more miles on it in two days that I usually do in two months.

And no AAA was needed. I do try to keep my trucks running well.

Your list of issues is pretty short! Great story, glad to hear it. Keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks to a rigorous routine of regular maintenance this jeep has a fairly short list of issues overall. And I think I just got lucky on this one

I was just there last week for my annual trip to the museums. Unfortunate, but we took MARC train. They were doing maintenance on all of the transfer trains so we had to walk everywhere. I'll tell yah.....It's quite a hump from China Town to the Mall.
Wish we could've taken the wagoneer, but I'm having an oil pump issue right now. Hoping I'll have the money to fix it next week.
