    Tailgate window lift bar removal

Got a new lift bar for the tailgate window in my 88GW but can't figure out how to get the old one off. I don't want to risk breaking the window so am reluctant to pound on it.

Any tips for removal and installation of the lift bar?

    Is it glued on?

If so I'd run a blade between it and the glass to try and cut the sealant then use a block of wood and hammer. If not the block and hammer should do it.

If you're that worried you might be able to use some snips and cut one side away.

If it was put it by me, the window would be glued in the lift bar with a whole tube of RTV. Good Luck!

you have to managed to roll the tailgate glass down to pull the window channel lifter clips off... 2 of them, the reinstallation of those clips are a bear... usually even the shops will drill holes in the inside facing of the tailgate to ease the insertion of the clips

Usually a metal spatula is enough to separate the rusty channel from the glass. You are unlikely to break the glass... it is thick , unless the tailgate is down... and something lean on it... The glass is spring loaded... be careful

MY REAR WINDOW FELL OFF THE RETRACTORS TODAY. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE GIZMO IS CALLED THAT ATTACHES TO THE STUD ON THE ARM , THAT BRINGS THE BACK WINDOW UP AND DOWN??? (THE STUD GOES TROUGH THE GLASS BOTTOM AND HAS A NOTCH AROUND IT FOR A CLIP OR WASHER THAT HOLDS THE STUD TO THE WINDOW). WHAT IS IT CALLED OR DOES ANYBODY

as Flint said reinstall with RTV... and let it dry

74 wag, 349Kmiles on original ticker/trany, except for the rust. Will it make it to the next get together without a rebuilt? Status: needs a new body.
