EXHAUST manifold advise

going to exhaust manifolds on 1976 j-10 360

don't want air tubes or air tube holes

WONDERING if the NEW manifolds avail from DORMAN are good/reliable.

I figured new is better, but know some RE-MAN parts are sometimes inferior.

but don't want hassle of getting USED OEM and finding they have issues,

or having to deal with air tube holes. (although plugged easily I guess ).

ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED.

Whether they're stamped with Dorman or not, I would not be surprised at all to find out they came from the same manufacturer. I cannot imagine there are many people casting AMC Gen3 V8 exhaust manifolds anymore.

Whichever ones you get (new or used), drop a straight edge on the gasket surface. If they are not completely flat, make them that way.

If you have manifolds now, I'd suggest you have them surfaced and then plug the holes. The replacement manifolds are probably ok, but I'd be real picky as to fit and flatness.

Also be aware there was a change in the manifolds related to the driveshafts moving to the driver side. '76 has air tubes?

All Jeep V8s had Air Guard (air injection) in 1976. Only the 258 lacked it.
