pasta man : the chrome plastic adhesive trim i have is only 11mm wide
and is the perfect size.
as far as durability
mine is always garaged and rarely driven
but this stuff should last approx 5 yrs minimum
and prob much longer even if left outside every day.
good luck

Thank you. I was originally thinking wider would be better (so as to fold the top/bottom edges around the metal) - but I'll take your word for the 11mm size.

pasta man, i sent a private message with this same explanation
but just in case,.....
you must be thinking of plain chrome vinyl striping tape
i used actual moulding or trim
that you peel off the 3m 2 sided tape liner
then apply.
it is a rigid plastic that has a plastic chrome finish
similar to the door edge moulding you see in rolls
this is the same but is intended for sticking to a surface, not an edge
you stick it on and then peel off the clear protective film
it will last for years, and is easy and cheap to replace.

Looks like I am going to need something in... black. Still doesn't seem like there are many good options out there
Why use trim at all? Just paint the gutter black.
You ever wonder what medieval cook looked at the guts of a pig and thought, "I bet if you washed out that poop tube, you could stuff it with meat and eat it."
