1987 GW Build Thread

I just purchased this engine 2009 5.3L Vortec w/ 5000 miles. It will be going into my GW.

I will be selling my Thorley Headers, AMC 360 Long Block and the EFI including the tuner from Moates if anyone is interested.

So what's the deal with SBC's? I know they're plentiful and all but are they an easy swap with motor mounts lining up and and everything?

You have to replace the motor mounts. Novak and Advance Adapters both have motor mounts for this application.

They are Chrome Doug Thorley Headers I don't think they make shorty's but in either case I would think you would have to call these long tube.

As soon as I start pulling all this stuff, I will get pictures and post in the for sale section.

Some things I can ship (Headers for instance). Others (engine, transmission, xfer case) I would prefer not too but would consider.

I would be interested in hearing more about the EFI.
PM me with details when you get a chance.

Thanks and good luck with the swap. I am currently doing a Caddy engine into a J-20. It'll get a TBI from a 454....

Wow, 09'? Are you going to try to utilize the active fuel management with the cylinder disableing? I believe the cam timing is variable on that too.

What kind of wiring are you going to have to deal with to get that thing running?

This is out of an 09 Silverado and comes with the engine management computer. If the 09 Silverado had it then it should work when swapped in.

It comes with the entire wiring harness and the computer. Since I already have an OBDI computer running in the Jeep now, it should be a fairly straight forward swap. Additionally, I know two guys on here have already done it with earlier model 5.3L engines so I have help (Right?).

I don't think thats a bad price at all, especially since it came with all the wiring and related accessories.
