    Productive Weekend on the GW

Got up Saturday morning and made a trip to the junkyard. My wife went with me, which really surprised me. I found a mint condition back seat, which I'm going to use to add third row seating. Also found good condition sun visors, original front floor mats, hood ornament and air cleaner assembly with all the vacuum lines still in tact. The guy I got all this stuff from said the engine and transmission still works, he drove it around for a while before parking it in the junkyard and parting it out. Here it is if anybody needs anything from it: http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/pts/1046275455.html

So, this weekend I fixed my headlight dimmers (which were not working), replaced the multi-unit stalk that controls the hi/lo beams, wipers and turn signals, redid all my vacuum lines, added the TFI upgrade and replaced the broken parking brake. I know some of you guys can rebuild an entire engine in one weekend, but I never claimed to be a mechanic, so this was a really good thing for me.

Hey, any progress is good progress. You have to crawl before you walk and walk before you run. I am still in the crawl phase meyself. Good on ya.

X2 - don't sell yourself short, that was a lot of probably annoying things that got fixed this weekend.

The hardest and most time consuming thing was the dimmer/stalk and parking brake. Very tedious and frustrating. But it felt really good when I was finished, knowing that everything worked and I didn't have any parts left over . It won't fail inspection on those two things now.

Could be worse, all I wanted to do was put a leather steering wheel cover on this weekend, and I broke a window track, noticed my front grill has a (mysterious) huge dent in it, and noticed that the Jeep has low oil pressure (and then lifter type noise) after warming up.

At least you made progress and not RE-gress.

So, how do you break a window track putting on a steering wheel cover? Just curious.

I like the new multi function stalk, I am going to have to buy one and install. Mine looks bad. that might even fix my cruise control. I also noticed in your picture that I am missing the side mirror control. Yet another thing I need to fix/ replace.
