Door panel s and steering wheel

My first attempt at door panels. Started with men in blacks ABS panels that are great . Used a clear plastic template to transfer the mounting holes. Used a push through clip to mount to door. Clips are great for installing and removing panel with no problems, but I got a slight bulge in the vinyl where the fasteners are located. I should have counter sunk clips maybe?1969wagon/CA27C6A5-552A-4621-90FC-16C95590571E_zpszt4l0fwc.jpeg

Did you paint it? It is sooooooooooo straight! Wow! So many lines and flat panels on these rigs, it amazes me when people get them that straight.

Thanks Rang, I did everything but the paint! My buddy painted it. It was incredibly straight and rust free when I found it, just sun baked. I will look for some before pics

Thanks Al, it runs real strong, shifts and stops great! I went through the harness and cleaned up 50 years of slight modifications, everything works now. I only need to Figure out the break warning light. Need to install tailgate then I’m going to register it and go fishing !

The tailgate tension rods were a bunch of fun. I found that having two helpers holding each end of the tailgate carefully bringing it forward in the near fully upright position (slightly higher that the door frame) allowed me to feed the rods into the hinge pockets without to much trouble. I had the hinges mounted in the door frame and carefully brought the tailgate to them after getting the rods in.
I taped cardboard on the body below and kraft paper on the sides to protect the paint. It is a bit of a nail biter but once in place it is super!

Good luck and catch those fish...
