Couple of Fuel Tank Skid Plate Questions!!!

I am have taken my skid plate off because it was extremely rotted and I was afraid I was going to loose my fuel tank!! so I removed the skid plate and fuel tank and am wondering if anyone has some insight!!
I have been thinking about taking the rusted out plate to a metal shop and seeing if they can fab the rest of it up it as the triangle bracket, and rear of the plate is completely gone!! I have also been looking at just going safe way and buying one but they are SO FREAKING expensive!!
And one more.....BJ's vs TGW's Skidplate.....whats the difference and why would I buy one over the other.....preface: I really like dealing with BJ's but theres is a little more expensive.

Put up a wanted add for a good used one.

I have/had a '78 one that was/is (dont recall if I scraped it or not) in good shape other than covered in oil (probably why its not rusted).
I was told it wont fit '80-up or I'd offer to meet you some time and let you have it.

Hope you find something,
Jim

I got a oem one from jeep and the heavy duty one from BJ. I sold the oem one to a member here for a good price and used the heavy one from BJ. Except for the weight penalty it should outlive me. The TG one will be similar to oem and thin metal

Either pony up the $$$ for a new one or try and find a good used one. Might be tough to do on the east coast. I have one sitting in my backyard, but they're $$$ to ship and quite honestly, not worth the hassle. And of course, that's why it still sits in my back yard. LOL!

When you reinstall it, put two washers on the bolts, in between the skid plate and the frame rail, to make a small space for dirt and debris to fall out.
