Jeep shipping by auto transport company

OK for those of use that buy an FSJ over 1000 miles away and must pay an auto transporter to get it, who do you use and what kind of luck have you had with say DAS or EXPRESS AUTO? I have been waiting over two weeks for someone to pu a Cherokee in Utah to bring back to the midwest.....this is only about 125 miles from Vegas so I have to believe this is not on a route for someone. Only problem is that it is a non-op vehicle.

I used a broker here in CA to ship my waggy from OR to SOCAL back in August.

The name of the broker was Head of the Pack.
    Head of the Pack Transport
    Phone: 818.495.3824
    Fax: 818.530.7850

The carrier that got the contract/bid was Southern Cross Transport Inc.

They did a great job in record time. Also the pricing was great!
All good transport companies have references. The brokers should also provide for you a reference sheet on the carrier that will take your vehicle bid.
It will tell you how many trucks are in the companies inventory, ratings in the last month & year, Insurance, DOT records.
(Ristow)fram!....that deserves a ratchet upside the head.

I shipped several car overseas, and used a local tow company, or if across the country I used the McNutt Auto transport.

Many "Auto transport" companies are fronts (sales offices) that just place the load (in this case non-op FSJ) pickup and destination and $'s offered on the trucking sites. If no one responds to the offer, the truck sits.
I personaly don't have any clue what the above guys do.

I found my '89 GW on Craigslist and had it shipped from Spokane, WA to Pittsburgh, PA. I did a lot of research before I selected a broker. I ended up going with Angels Moving Autos, who then selected a trucking company out of Spokane. My FSJ was delivered in three days for a fair price.

Be sure to check Transport Reviews before deciding on a carrier.

Try to stay away from the brokers. A lot of them claim to be actual shippers, then end up brokering it out to the lowest guy.

I just used these guys http://guaranteedautoshipping.com/. Was a total nightmare. Wouldn't recommend them to anybody.

I had a car recently delivered by www.ableautotransport.com They are a broker, but claim to only use trucking companys that meet their highest standards. Everything went extremely smooth. This was for a Mercedes.

Man, I've said this over and over and I'll say it again....Uship.com .

Ive moved well over a half dozen cars using the system and after a while Ive developed good relationships with a couple of small transport companies who I just go to directly when I know I need something hauled thats on their route.

I used DAS in 2007 to ship the J-20 from New Mexico to Arkansas. As far as I know the only part they contracted out was local outfits to pick the truck up at the New Mexico end and get it to the terminal and then to deliver it from the terminal on the Arkansas end to my place. Could've avoided that had the seller dropped it off at the terminal and I picked it up at the terminal on this end. DAS did everything as promised - but the local outfit picking up the truck dropped the ball and were four hours late. The J-20 was operational - don't recall if they handled non-op vehicles but I'm sure if they do there is an additional cost involved. If I had to ship a vehicle again I'd consider them based on my experience with them. With the extra charges for door-to-door pickup and delivery it came out about $838 if I remember correctly.

If this would help, maybe you would have a friend or family member who are out of job. They would be happy to take road trip for you to get it cheap.
