Self tapper repair?
Hey all!
One of the bolts for steel strips on my tailgate interior has stripped self-tapped threads in the tailgate sheetmetal.
Any tips on fixing it without going a screw size up?

bang it flat with hammer & dolly (or similar).
almost always closes hole up enough to allow using original screw.

Weld it
Weld it closed and re-drill the hole

Soms jb weld or 3m adhesive ,let it dry and re-drill a small hole and then the screw.
Or close the hole with some soldering tin.
Best to head the area with a soldering iron instead of a open flame so you don't burn all the paint away!

Harbor Freight has a kit for installing aluminum threaded inserts in sheet metal.
Kinda like pop rivets with a threaded hole.
