Yeah, sometimes when you post, it will cut off after the first apostrophe. Especially if you are posting from an apple device. Doubly extra super frustrating. Whenever I post something long, just before I hit "Submit reply", I highlight the whole thing and copy it. Then if it gets cut off, I can hit "edit", put the whole text in there and fix whatever it is that got cut off. some other things that trigger a cut: colons :, semi-colons ;, quotation marks ", and tack marks -.

For Sale 1981 Sportside

FOR SALE: 1981 JEEP J10 4X4 SPORTSIDE FRAME UP RESTO MOD

This Jeep is a frame up restoration with only 972 miles. A NOS speedometer installed during restore. Way too many new parts to list, but the highlights include: rebuilt .040 over 360 cid motor with Edelbrock manifold and Holley Truck Avenger carb, rebuilt trans, brakes with stainless steel lines, most weather-strips are new, new carpet, new headliner, 3 inch OE roll bar, 3 inch tube rear bumper. The truck bed, the floor under the carpet and the bottom of the floor up to the firewall break are Line X-coated. Has a small (3 inch) lift kit with Rancho Shocks, new 33X12.50 15 BFG All Terrains on 10 inch American Racing Wheels. Laredo front seats with OE center arm rest and Retro style radio, (looks Vintage with modern features) keeps the interior looking sharp.
This truck runs very well, and all mechanical systems operate correctly, including the A/C, heat, 4X4 and the fuel gauge. All components were either replaced, repaired or rebuilt.
This project was completed about a decade ago, and practically never used. This truck was rust free, so it made for a great project and with the addition of the Sportside box, it gave it a look that you do not see very often. This truck turns heads wherever It goes! I built it as a daily driver and it just got too nice to use it that way. So it mainly just stays parked. It has started to show some age, chrome valve covers, and air cleaner are starting to pit, rear fenders are developing weathering flaws. (not visible in photos, but up close you can see them) These items are not issues unless your planning on making it a show truck only. I elected to keep the tailgate bolted shut since I knew it wouldn’t be used but I have new gate chains with covers for it that are included.
This truck has a clean title. I have all the parts records. It is one of 3,719 short box J10’s (119-inch WB) pickups built in 1981.
Asking $30,000
Located in SE Wisconsin

I believe that number is MUCH lower when you isolate the stepside beds from the regular fleetsides! (3719)

I've seen1260 and 1650 as the total for Honcho stepsides built in all years. By the way,how many miles did the original speedometer show? Also, the sentence that says "with the addition of the sport side box" reads like you changed the bed from an original fleet side to a step side. Is that what you mean? In other words, is the serial number for an original Honcho sport side?

Towtruck, I really dont remember what the original mileage was. It had a stepside on it when I got it but the vin would indicate that it was styleside I think a sportside would have been a 24 series, this a 25 series. When I started this build I wanted another sportside, had a Honcho at the time. I used the cab from a better quality, more solid truck and moved the dash over. When I say everything was taken down and repaired or rebuilt I mean everything, even the dash.

Sportsides were 25 series too
The only years when the VIN will tell it's a stepside (thriftside) are 72-74

? 25 series, sportsides? We are talking about the big fiberglass fenders made between 80 and 83 on SWB trucks.
