    Body Swapping

Instead of finding and replacing my 360 for a 401( only because it needs a rebuild ), my t15 for a t18, and having custom lift springs made because I own a "71", would it not be easier and cheaper to just buy a running J20 and swap bodies (cab and bed)? Will my 71 mount to a 74 and up? I would really like the 3/4 ton axles too, so that's another plus. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure, but I think there may be a difference in the way the beds mount. I'm pretty sure the cab mounts look the same though.

I'm thinking you may be right. If so, don't you think it would still be easier to fab something up for the bed to match up, or no?

Probably, it shouldn't be too hard. You do have a long bed right?

Yes, so don't you think it would be easier to swap bodies rather than engine, trans, lift and axles? Not to mention cheaper.

If you could find a J20 for a good price I think you would be better off doing a body swap. I didn't really like the look of those post style spring mounts on the '71 I parted out. I'm not really sure if I'd call it easier though. I would think it would be cheaper however. If you could find a running J20 with a shot body you should be able to get it for fairly cheap.
