    4bbl conversion (mr gasket adapter)

I am STILL in the process of swapping my 2bbl for a 1904 q-jet. I read here that a plastic adapter is better for heat insulation which translates to more power. I am particularly concerned with heat, I live here in the sunny state of AZ. The adapter is for a spread to square 1" metal type. Should I take it back and search for something new? Anyone have exact part numbers?

What, can't you read my mind! Sorry...

I am installing the edelbrock performer manifold. The guys at the performance shop just gave me the Mr. Gasket adapter. If I am going to spend all this time and money I want to do it right.

You probably won't find a plastic adapter at the parts store. More than likely it would be through someplace like Summit Racing or other catalog types. However, you should be able to get by fine with a thick gasket on both sides of the adapter. As a last resort you do what I did and have a machine shop machine out the block from a slab of phenolic.

Yeah; while a plastic isolator might be ideal ,I imagine that it would be quite hard to find. Double-up on greased gaskets, then put Loc-Tite on the fasteners and tighten very gently and evenly.

Q-Jets are pretty resistant to heat. There are insulated heat-shield kits for Q-Jets that have layers of aluminum and fiber-based gaskets, so you can add them to your heart's content, or until your air-cleaner hits the hood.

But Summit and Jegs both have the phenolic adapters.

Does the Q-jet fit a Edelbrock Performer intake? Or does it take an adaptor to make it work?
