1978 Wagoneer Hood "Nose Bar" Questions and Repair

First, what do we call the 'nose bar' piece that is attached to older Wagoneer hoods? The part removed in 1979 and later models when the grill took over that real estate?
Second, it is obviously cast, but out of what?
Finally, how are cracks typically repaired on this parts?
Thanks

called a hood bar, cracks can be tricky, the hood bar seems to be made of pot metal... depends on how bad the crack is... picts are always helpful

I tried tig, but no go. The pot metal won't take the heat even from tig. JB weld if the cracks aren't too bad will help.
