My FIL had a friend who was a WWII pilot, member of the Texas Confederate Air Force and that is the plane he flew. They are both gone now, but we really enjoyed the shows. Thanks for the memory.

My dad took me to tons of airshows when I was a kid.
Good memories...
Dad was an aircraft nut, a pilot and a licensed A&P mechanic.
Yesterday made me kinda sad he's gone, but kiddo seemed to enjoy it and it was a good afternoon.

Few things as magical as radials and Merlin engines. Every year my son and I go to Wings over Camarillo. It's our local airshow and WWII birds come from all over the country. Modern aircraft come too, but not in huge numbers. that air show is one of the few things my son (now 15) still enjoys doing with his nerdy/fat/ugly/old dad.
There is something awesome about these vintage planes. To me, they are like the peak of the muscle car era where everything was analog, mechanical, raw, and badass!

The Warhawk Air Museum in Idaho has some fine WWII aircraft on display.

Nice video. Bummed that I missed them. They were going be in Ramona following Carlsbad, but I had to travel for work. Always incredible to see and hear/feel them fly.

If anyone ever gets to central Oregon, go to the Madras airport.....The Erickson Collection is a perfect way to spend a day, and fill an 8G sd chip......
If all types of cars, bikes, planes is your bag the Antique Auto/Aero Mesuem in Hood River is another good way to spen the day.
