    New Cherokee in San Francisco

Been lurking here for a while, but since buying this 1974 big orange crapbox, I've committed! It runs, but will take a bit of work. First of many questions: what is the painted piece of the hood that connects underneath the cowl called? And anybody know where to get one?
    Thanks. Joseph

Generally referred to as a “hood bar”, they are caste pot metal and seem to be difficult to find in usable condition. They often crack and pot-metal is a challenge to weld/repair. They can be found, and are not generally expensive. I try to catch such things on rigs that are being parted out.

Welcome, and that’s a nice looking Narrowtrack Cherokee you have there.
One day I will wake up and realize that my jeep is complete...one day, I just know it.

Yeah! digging your ride! Honestly, I think it looks kind of cool without the bar. There are a couple folks up there in the SF area. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the asylum, IIRC I saw your rig drive by one day... not too many oldies in SF.

Good luck finding a hood bar, best place would be J&W in Sacto, as said the few that you will find at the junkyard are broken.

74 wag, 349Kmiles on original ticker/trany, except for the rust. Will it make it to the next get together without a rebuilt? Status: needs a new body.
85 Gwag, 229 Kmiles. $250 FSJ test lab since 02, that refuses to give up but still leaks.

when the owner said "cowl" area
i thought he was mentioning the cowl vent under the wiper arms

if it is a hood bar they are needing
you see them on ebay for sale often.

you also see the cowl vents for sale too.

            welcome to "ifsj"

            NICE CHEROKEE !

Thanks for the help on this one, I actually pinged Watson and Sons from the forum here and just received it yesterday! Many more questions for you guys, but for the next one I'll start a new thread.
