You unscrew the cup thats at the base of the shifter, then there is a pin under that that you need to push out.

Be careful with the cup as it has pretty fine threads and is easy to mess up.

Anyone have a diagram? My shifter literally fell out in the first week that I owned my truck. I put it back together and keep an eye on the cap now, but would like to replace the pin. Didn't know there was one. I've changed the oil in it a couple times and never seen any bad signs so it was probably left out by a PO at some point.

If you can't find one online PM me your email and I'll send the diagram of the top section.

Thanks, Joe. The top section diagram seems to be very elusive. Wasn't sure there even was such a thing.

Ok, I remember that. Had to align the slot on 7.001-1 with it to get the shifter back in so it's still there but, maybe just not tight?

The purpose of the pin isn't to keep the shifter it, it is to keep it from spinning.
