Recently acquired a 79 Wagoneer delivered from Colorado site unseen, 401, H&L Quadratrac, 6" lift, 35" Tires, body seems sound, interior a tad rough, Tracks straight no wander, 13 MPG @ 60MPH, Trans is lazy & a bit whiny until its warm, but then seems fine. None of the gauges work ( pulled the cluster everything was disconnected). New Alternator with only one wire, big red one. Soon as I figure it out I'll post a photo

Thought i would add this.

My folks in 1964, note the white wagoneer over my mothers shoulder. I recall it was a three door, Three speed column shift. Traded in his Willy's Wagon.

What are your plans with it?

Plans

One step at a time. First lower the rear by an inch, level it out. Slowly go through and fix all the stuff that might cause us to get stranded. My wife and I love taking it to the beach, she is totally on-board with this purchase. Not looking to go full resto, not going to sweat the funky interior, Don't care it has no AC. Might look into the part time 2/4WD conversion kit, and discs in the rear. Certainly would love to simplify the electrical, its a birds nest under the dash. In the past I had 2 M715, a FS Cherokee , and an FS Wagoneer. didn't have the resources to treat them right, My life at 61 is a bit more relaxed and secure so were going to enjoy it. Teach myself to weld.
