Any OTA HD Tv folks here?

I was beyond sick and tired of the stupid $$ for cable, so cut the cord so to speak. Every couple years of doing the dance to renegotiate a better price.
Had AT&T U-Verse for a couple years, etc.

Made an antenna, scanned for channels and getting ~73 HD channels.
San Diego is ~45miles south, and Los Angeles is ~100 north, so we're getting a mix from both. Lots of useless ones, but was very impressed!
Get all big networks from both areas, lots of Spanish channels, and a mix of independents.

Forgot about "regular" TV since we've had cable for ~17yrs here.
Got latest cable bill w/o TV and ~$120 less a month!

Wonder how many channels I could pick up w/ a "real" antenna?

Ever looked at Sling TV? $20 a month, it uses your internet and you get pretty good channels

we cut the cord years ago but mostly because we got tired of all the garbage my kids kept stumbling on (one morning when my son was about 4, he found Doctor G: Medical Examiner and watched an autopsy before we had even woken up). We pretty much live on Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, and the network websites these days.

I have never understood how people could be willing to pay to watch commercials...that absolutely boggles me. Why would you pay to be advertised to? Craziness.

I know a lot of people that have gone completely OTA in the last ~10 years. Once all the OTA stations went digital, reception got WAY better. I'm with the internet crowd here, though: Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc.

I did it years ago, I receive 18 channels of crystal clear HD. I have a large flyswatter antenna mounted on the roof and the transmitter is 60 miles ways

We still got cable...the lowest tier available which is just local stations for about 10 a month. I don't think we need it, but internet would cost quite a bit more than what it does if it were by itself, and cable almost guarantees a stable signal. Bed rooms still have antenna though, using the classic rabbit ears.
My mom and stepdad only have antenna. They got a good roof mount unit. Gets lots of stations.

To be honest though, liked it better before the dtv change. Yea, they added the sub channels but at least I got more channels that were watchable. I don't mind snow and some shush in the sound. Now with the DTV, I can only watch the Rockford channels because the others come in so bad that there is no point to watching when it does nothing but bleep around and put some box on the tv saying "signal streanth too weak" or some .
I also got a beef with the modern antenna's...-they suck. I've tried 3-4 different ones and couldn't even get all the locals I get with the old rabbit ears.
