header paint

How do I remove the black anti rust coating to paint my hedman headers with high heat paint?

I think I would just prime with high heat, sand a bit and go with the high temp enamel. Make sure it is the really high heat stuff. I think there is two grades out there. I have also used black stove paint. It is extreme high heat and won't come off for nothin.

I have used stove paint and it does hold for awhile but eventually burns off, i suggest if you are looking for looks ceramic coating is the best way to go, i ceramic coated my headers on my mustang 5 years ago, and it still looks good.

You shouldn't paint them do all you can to let heat escape those thin metal headers will warp faster when coated or wrapped. That's y most header wraps void warranties cuz its thin metal
