Birds eye veiw of Thorleys installed
Finally got a little extra money to throw at the J20 again. These are the nicest set of headers I have ever came across thru-out my life for any vehicle that I have owned.
Not one thing had to be tweaked, or forced together in any way.
I should have taken a picture of the mating surface of the header flange, a real work of art...!
Installation was extremely easy in my case, as you can see. Thought better now than later.
The stainless steel exhaust bands on the slip joints were added by me. The slip joint under the engine didn't have a band on it in the pic, but does now.
Finished of the installation with a 7" diameter Dynomax straight thru design muffler that's 24 inches long. I just need to add a tailpipe that will get installed later. But for now....It sounds pretty good when running..!

Looking great. I love my thorly's and are nicer than my datsun headers the I paid as much and coatong is coming off. The thorleys look as good as when I installed them 5 years ago.

If you can't make it better why waste your time. No use repeating the orignal mistakes. I'm to old to push it that's why.

Very, very nice. And I just discovered your build thread. Great work. I'm trying to do the same thing.

HAHA havent used that picture in a while. If I ever get another rig that I dont care about keeping all original, definitely getting those headers! The look so bad a@@! They look like they are built to last. If get cast iron replacements before I went for the plain black steel headers that rust out quick on the east coast.
Break any bolts getting the stock manifolds off

Thanks for all the compliments guys..! Thought If showing different pics of the Thorleys with out the cab on, you could get an idea of the clearance these headers give. Glad everyone enjoyed. I do need to update the build thread on this a bit.
To answer a few questions;
(1) men in black, I live in the thumb of Michigan, a little town called Fairgove to be exact.
(2) Ristow, Ive been tinkering here and there with cooling and carb updates, need to show pics of the new electric fans, along with the Holley T/A 470 I just added.
(3) hookedup50, Not sure what direction I'm headed with this, probably do a little wheelin and drive it to and from work as often as possible. I do know it will never see salt from any more michigan winters again.
(4) serehill, Good eye..! The totally rust free original paint 69 Coronet was my first E-bay purchase 10 or so years ago. Was a one owner California black plate car purchase by a retired gentle man from the town of Manteca California. It never left that town till i got it. I cant afford a real 69 Super-Bee, so this is the closest thing to it. This is the next project after the Jeep is done.

Thats why I asked. I would love to do that to my wag, but it would end up in the garage and I would not want to drive at the beach cause of the salt. I ruined a military model 11, 12guage that way by restoring it. It looks great on the wall, but hunting it now is a crime. I love your project, and those thorleys look great even with all the rest of vehicle around them.
