Doesn't look like this is in the cards for me this year, not gonna have the J-truck done in time. Surely 2012 will bring new surprises and hopefully a trip to Colorado to finally meet some of you guys."And on the 8th day God created beer."

Yay, 2011 is looking good! Convoy MO and Denver?
Well, I am looking forward to returning after many years of absence. I always tell people that SW CO is my favorite place on the planet!
Need to iron out some details, however, I will probably be heading to Denver on that weekend prior and hangin with frieinds there and then heading to Ouray on Tues... anyone driving out from Denver/C Springs area that day? It'd be great to hook up with a convoy then.
When are you guys from Columbia heading over? I will probably be working in Hays, KS on Th night and over to Denver Fri a.m.
We all know that, "to the Cloud" has a totally different meaning in Ouray!
BTW, how would a J20 do out there?
E ya!

Hey Jesse! It would be great to have you join in the Ouray fun again. A J20 or LWB J10 might bring some extra pucker power making the switchbacks on Black Bear. Good brakes & tires are very important as you are familiar - low range too! All the other trails should not be too bad except maybe Poughkeepsie. It changes every year. We sat waiting to go down and watched a Burb (maybe 2" lift) sit hung on that rock pile for 2 hours this past July. The AZ group that was hanging there were kind of clueless.Flint

I just put on a new set of 33" BFG ATs a few weeks ago. Will I be ok with those? I have a set of 33" mud terrains on my cj and am wondering if I should swap them out. Considering the fact that I'll be driving up from Dallas pulling a popup camper, the ATs would definitely fit the bill for the road part of the trip but I don't want to find myself in trouble up there.~Dave Shuck

Ouray is in doubt next summer. Had a medical problem and now owe the hospital lots of money. But I'd really like to get out there again. Plan was to pull a pop-up and stay at the KOA instead of a motel.
We'll see how things work out.N4ZYV
I ain't giving up. I've worked hard, it took me years to work my way to the bottom.

Options:
1. Come with a lot of cash (or credit) and stay at a hotel (might not find one last minute).
2. Come with some cash, a tent and a sleeping bag (or rug if you like to sleep outside by the fire) The KOA has Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/snacks available. You should check before you leave but someone will probably share their tent site with ya. You will also see a few 'drop outs' right before the date and you might be able to grab one of their sites (I dropped out last year)
3. Bring it all with ya. Food, shelter, etc. Takes more time to set up.
Wheel'n wise you want your truck to be in excellent mechanical shape. The trails are not technially challenging but there are a lot of places where a small problem can turn into a major medical emergency. (BIG DROP OFFS). You pretty much must have low range otherwise you will lose your brakes going down some of the longer hills. Your tranny needs to be in good shape. Your engine should be running really good too (don't need it to die in a bad spot). Brakes are a must, emergency brake too.82 Cherokee WT ?
