360 Oil Cooler Help Appreciated

Hi Guys
Havnt been here for a while (work etc...the curse of the drinking class) but I have a small problem with my 360 AMC powered Dually.

First off, they arnt real thick on the ground around here (Central Australia) and no the probbie cant be fixed by reference to Rambler 360s....so after market bits just dont exist. I have tried talking to some places stateside, but honestly!!!...must be my accent...everbody is very polite but they just waffle on.

Now the problem. It gets hot here...about 110F in summer is about right...black top temps are around 150F. My 360 (with GM trannie as normal) runs real cool in coolant temp (195-200F), but the engine oil (tried two gauges and then a laser IR temp gun) runs at above 230F.

If the piccies show up, you can see that I have no room to mount a sandwich plate, the engine mount is only 3/4 inch from the end of the filter (Z30).

There must be another way. I cant find any gallery plugs (oil) to tap into and Im not too keen on "T" ing off the Oil gauge fitting and then going through cooler and sump dumping...far too open ended.

Just as an after thought, the oil pressure cold start at idle (800rpm) is 25 PSI at 2000 RPM cold is 60PSI and hot at 2000RPM is 50PSI. My main concern is that the oil can boil at the 230 mark and its a no no for me.

Any help as to how to fit a cooler or where to get bits(that I cant source local) or even to tell me Im a worry wart...smile...will be well received.

Now to keep the "show us a photo crowd" happy Ill try to post some pics of the oil filter. (need an external host..Ill find one.)

PS: If you read this Elliot...Hi, hope your well and still Jeeping Mate,

Thanks Guys

Peter

forget about a sandwich plate and get a remote oil filter adapter w/ provisions for plumbing in an oil cooler.
give bulltear.com a call/email

X2. I think the remote cooler and oil filter adapter should fit in there for you.

Make sure you talk to Matt at Bulltear about how the plumbing must be done when installing the oil cooler.

Motor oil doesn't "boil" anywhere around 230'F. Conventional oil will start to breakdown around 325'F or so and full synthetic around 415'F or higher depending on the brand, ect..

While 230'F oil is hot, I believe it can me tolerated by then engine. Be sure you are running a top quality FULL synthetic oil like Amsoil or Mobil 1.

An oil cooler may help but I wouldn't expect a dramatic drop in oil temps unless you get a properly oversized one.
