J10- what parts can I swap from

I need a bunch of interior parts, door panels, bench seat. What years of wags and chero's will the parts swap from for my 81 J10. Also, will a bench seat out of some other brand fit-ie ford, chevy etc etc. Thanks Dennis

Someone told me once that the J-trucks were about 10" narrower than the other fullsize trucks of the era, so I don't know if other trucks will work. Wagoneer bench seats should work and so will buckets from a Wag or Cherokee. Interiors will be the same with the exception of the headliner and design differences between models, but they soud physically bolt up. Some PO managed to stuff Lincoln town car sats in my J10.They look ugly but they sure are comfy.

The dash/gauges/keat controls etc is the same in the Wags/Trucks from 73 up to I think 86(?) or so. The bench seat is an oddball length so you'll have to stick with a Wag/Chero/Truck for a donor there also.

If you can hold out for a folding bench seat from a later model J-truck, they didn't fold foward in '74 and I would love to be able to store 'stuff' behind my seat but it is too much trouble without a hinged seat. Just a suggestion and if anybody in SoCal has a hinged bench seat let me know

My '64 and '67 have original folding bench seats. Could someone have possibly swapped a non-folding bench from a wag?

Neither my 72 nor 73 J-trucks have folding seats and I know they're both the original seats.

I recently measured the bench in my 73 and my friend's 86 C%^&y p/u and they are both 53" across. His seat is torn to heck and we are looking at trading my bench for some engine rebuild labor since I'm putting power buckets in mine. My 73 does NOT fold down, but it moves forward enough for me to get my shotgun case or bow case behind the seat. I'm sure the other makes of trucks have different brackets underneath also.

Just had a thought, I wonder if the Custom Cabs came with folding seats and the standard didn't. My '74 is NOT a custom cab.

Ok, my '67 is a custom cab and my '64 is not. I looked in my '75 TSM and couldn't find any indication of a folding seat, The '67 manual does show a 2-piece folding seat for the Gladiator, but the Wag is a 1-piece type. I wonder why AMC got rid of the folding seat for awhile in the trucks?

Ditto. I have a 73 Custom Cab and no folding bench seat. I think the earlier ones may have had one because of the optional in-cab fuel tank some early J trucks had. On second thought, that wouldn't make sense either; you couldn't put doo doo behind the seat with the extra fuel tank anyway. I bet AMC did it because a non folding seat was cheaper.
